तरंग : चांद्रताल : देवभूमी

'चांद्रताल'ला भेट दिली. अतिशय कठीण प्रवास. रस्ता अतिशय वाईट. हाडांचा हिशोब जुळवित होतो. कैलास- मानसरोवर प्रवासाची आठवण झाली. त्यावेळी तिबेट मध्ये रस्ते नव्हतेच. सर्व पठारी प्रदेश. हिमाचलमधील हा दुर्गम भाग. अनेक आख्यायिका आहेत. धर्मराज युधिष्ठीर ह्यांनाच चांद्रताल तलावात प्रवेश करू दिला.तेथे रोज रात्री देव छोटी बोट घेवून वल्हवत जातात म्हणे. लोकांच्या अनेक भावना. असा कठीणतम प्रवास केल्यानंतर हे विहंगम निसर्ग सौंदर्य पाहिल्यावर मन प्रसन्न होते. निसर्ग हाच देव. त्याला स्पर्श केल्याचा आनंद वेगळा. This beautiful lake in Himachal is just a wonderful place. १४१०० फूट उंचीवरील हा तलाव मानसरोवरा सारखाच पवित्र मानला जातो. ह्या तलावाची खोली १९४९ फूट आहे. चंद्रा नदीचे हे उगमस्थान आहे. मनाली पासून हा तलाव १४० किलोमीटर अंतरावर आहे.

चांद्रतालचे विहंगम दर्शन

चांद्रताल ह्या तलावासंबंधी येथील स्थानिक लोकांच्या काही श्रद्धा आहेत. काही आख्यायिका आहेत. धार्मिक भावना तर आहेतच पण सांस्कृतिक जुन्या गोष्टी सांगितल्या जातात. येथील लोकांनाच असा समज आहे की काही ठराविक रात्री ह्या तलावात पडावातून देव विहार करीत असतात. धर्मराज ह्यांनी स्वर्गाचा मार्ग ह्याच तलावामार्गेच केला आणि इंद्र देवाने त्यांना वाट दाखविली , अशी एक आख्यायिका आहे.

ग्लेसिअर कडे येणारे अति थंड पाणी ह्यामुळे हा तलाव निर्माण झाला आहे. त्यामध्ये अंग गोठून जाते. ते खूप खोलही आहे. ह्या तलावात पोहण्यास बंदी आहे.

काझा पासून लोसार मार्गे कुमझुम पास चढून गेल्यानंतर बाटल ह्या गावापासून थोड्या अनंतरावर हा तलाव आहे.

Tso Chikgma or Chandra Taal (meaning the Lake of the Moon), or Chandra Tal is a lake in the Spiti part of the Lahul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh (India). Chandra Taal is near the source of the Chandra River. Despite the rugged and inhospitable surroundings, it is in a protected niche with some flowers and wildlife in summer. It is a favourite spot for tourists and high-altitude trekkers. It is usually associated with Spiti, but geographically is a part of Lahaul. Kunzum La separates Lahaul and Spiti valleys. Chandra Taal lake is on the Samudra Tapu plateau, which overlooks Chandra river (a source river of the Chenab).

चांद्रताल चे दूरवरून झालेले दर्शन

The name of the lake originates from its crescent shape. It is at an altitude of about 4,300 metres (14,100 ft) in the Himalayas. Mountains of scree overlook the lake on one side, and a cirque encloses it on the other. Foot path to Chandra Taal The lake is accessible by road from Batal and by road as well as on foot from Kunzum Pass from late May to early October. The road to Chandra Taal branches off from NH-505 about 2.9 kilometres from Batal and 8 km from Kunzum Pass. This 12 km motor road runs as far as a parking lot 1 kilometre from the lake.

एक ते दीड किलोमीटर चालत गेल्यानंतर हा तिन्ही बाजूने हिमालयाच्या पर्वत रांगाने वेढलेला तलाव दिसू लागतो.

ह्या तलावापासून २-३ किलोमीटर अंतरावर आमचे तंबू होते आणि एक रात्र आम्ही ह्या देवभूमीत घालवली. आकाश शुभ्र होते. सर्व तारे स्पष्ट दिसत होते आणि आकाशगंगेचे स्पष्ट दर्शन झाले. येथे अभ्यासू वैज्ञानिकांना अभ्यासाची

पर्वणी लाभते. चंद्रा आणि भागा ह्या दोन प्रेमिकांची ही कथा आहे. चंद्रा ही मुलगी आणि भागा हा सूर्य पुत्र.

One has to travel on foot for the final 1 kilometre1 km. It takes approximately two hours from Kunzum Pass to Chandra Taal. Chandra Taal is also accessible from Suraj Tal, 30 km away. Species at Chandratal Chandra Taal is home to a few species such as the Snow Leopard, Snow Cock, Chukor, Black Ring Stilt, Kestrel, Golden Eagle, Chough, Red Fox, Himalayan Ibex, and Blue Sheep. Over time, these species have adapted to the cold arid climate, intense radiation, and oxygen deficiency by developing special physiological features. Migratory species such as the Ruddy shelduck are found in summer. The lake is one of two high-altitude wetlands of India which have been designated as Ramsar sites. Spending night in Tent is a wonderful experience. We had similar experience at Mansarovar.
